It’s portrait time! The signature event of the Arboretum is the largest floral festival in the south, showcasing over 500,000 spring-blooming bulbs. This year’s centerpiece will be a 12’ tall Ferdinand the Bull topiary to bring the classic children’s tale to life. Pianists play daily from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the DeGolyer Loggia, and a trio of musicians play on the main concert stage on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The weekend of March 20th is ArtScape, a large fine arts show and sale within the confines of the garden.

So you’ve heard about the raucous partying that takes place during (and especially, after) this parade. But thousands of people, including many families, gather along the 2-mile parade route to witness one of the largest and most celebrated St. Patrick’s Day parades in North Texas. Kids love catching the beads and the candy that participants throw from atop the many floats that roll along. Prizes are awarded in categories that range from Best of the Best to Most Irish Animal.

And then there is Cinderumpelstiltskin. Will she have to spin her own dress? Will she go to the ball? The Really Ugly Duckling will make you laugh and cry and everyone will leave with a somewhat revised view of that Little Red Hen.
