Neighborhood Playgroups
Is your kiddo ready for kindergarten? Click here to find out great information.
Are you looking for opportunities to meet other parents and children in your neighborhood? Then attend a neighborhood playgroup this year! These playgroups have been formed using the public elementary school attendance zones. If you’re planning for your children to attend your neighborhood school, these playgroups are a great way to meet others who will go there too. If you’re planning for your children to attend a private school, these playgroups will help your children make neighborhood friends.
Listed below is a contact person in your neighborhood who you can contact with questions about your neighborhood or school. Planned playgroups and activities are based on the interest shown in each neighborhood; some meet regularly and some sporadically, so please continue to check the schedule.

Again this fall, the LHAECPTA is arranging tours of each local elementary school for our members. This is a great chance to meet some administrators and teachers, talk with veteran parents, tour the school, and learn about the great curriculum and programs available to our children. This is a wonderful way for us to show the administration that LHAECPTA members are interested in our local schools.
Please feel free to tour as many schools as you like. There will be sign up sheets available at the LHAECPTA September, October, and November monthly meetings. Please e-mail or call if you have any questions. Additionally, the website (www.risd.org) is a great resource for more information on our local schools.

Do you have any questions about your local schools? If so, maybe your PAC Representatives can help. The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) offers the Early Childhood PTA, and all PTA’s, the opportunity to present district-wide issues and questions to the Superintendent and Board of Trustees for RISD. It is a great opportunity to have your RISD questions answered, perhaps even before your children enter into the school system. For those of you with school-aged children, you can also use us as a means to have your questions answered about your respective schools; it does not have to be limited to pre-school issues.
As representatives of the LHAECPTA, Nicole Helfand and Caroline Branch will be attending meetings in order to get your questions answered. They will then report back to the LHAECPTA membership with the answers to your questions and any other pertinent issues.
If you have any questions to be presented at the upcoming PAC meeting, please email Nicole Helfand at nicole@helfand.net or Caroline Branch at caroline@museconsulting.com by September 15th.
